Macedon, kings. Philip V, 221-179 BC. AR Tetradrachm (33.2 mm, 16.79 g), Pella or Amphipolis, 221-211 BC. Diademed and bearded head of Philip V to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, Athena Alkidemos striding to left, preparing to hurl a thunderbolt held in her upraised right hand and with a shield over her left arm; in the inner left field, monogram of ΣΡ; in the inner right field, monogram of ΕΡ. With an exceptionally fine portrait of Philip V, struck in high relief with a lovely yellowish hues. Minor marks, two scratches on reverse. About extremely fine. Rare issue.
