Paeonia. Damastion, circa 365-345 BC. AR Tetradrachm (22.3 mm, 12.42 g.). Melisiator, magistrate. Head of Apollo to right. Rev. MEΛIΣ / IATΩ on both sides; tripod, with legs ending in lion paws. May, Damastium –; SNG Copenhagen –; Babelon –; BMC –. Classical and a very fine portrait of Apollo. A new, hitherto unrecorded magistrate name of Damastion. Exceedingly rare, unpublished variety! Lightly toned. Extremely fine.
