Egypt. Alexandria. Hadrian, 117-138. Tetradrachm (Billon, 23.93 mm, 13.37 g). Dated RY 17 (= 132/3). ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ ΤΡΑΙ ΑΔΡΙΑ ϹΕΒ Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. Rev. Nilus reclining left, holding reed with his right hand and cradling a cornucopia with his left arm; crocodile below; L IZ (date) in upper left field. Geissen 1063. Dattari-Savio 1434 corr. (obv. legend). RPC III, 5820. Emmett 876. BMC 2848. Cf. Savio, Tetradrammi alessandrini, pp. 77-81. Lovely dark brown patina and impressive portrait. Extremely Fine.

Ex Spink, London, 07.09.1972.

This tetradrachm, allthough of slightly narrow size, shows all its charm of style and preservation. Practically uncirculated, it shows images on both sides of high relief, almost globular and every detail is sharply obvious. All embellished by an old collection patina.
