L. Valerius Flaccus. AR Denarius, 108 or 107 BC. Obv. Draped bust of Victory right; below chin, barred X. Rev. Mars walking left, holding spear and trophy; before, L·VALERI/FLACCI and apex; behind, corn-ear. Cr. 306/1; B. (Valeria) 11. AR. 3.97 g. 19.00 mm. Great metal and full weight. Reverse slightly off centre. An outstanding example of fine style, sharply struck from masterly engraved dies, brilliant and nicely toned, with golden hues. Some pitting on reverse. EF.
