Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 272-240 BC. Sy- and Lykinos, magistrates. Obv. Youth on horseback left, crowning horse; ΣY behind; ΛYKI/NOΣ below. Rev. Phalanthos riding dolphin left, preparing to hurl trident; to right, owl standing left, head facing; TAPA[Σ] below. HN Italy 1025; Vlasto 834; SNG ANS 1164. AR. 6.39 g. 21.50 mm. Sound metal. Superb, brilliant, with underlying luster and lightly toned. EF.
