EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SHROUD WITH FOUR SONS OF HORUS

Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC A funerary shroud composed of faience beads depicting the deceased's face, a winged scarab, and the four Sons of Horus. The scarab symbolises rebirth and the four figures protect the deceased's organs for the afterlife. Restrung. For similar see: Bonhams Antiquities (28 April 2010), Lot 85.

Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in London; previously in 1970s European collection.
