MEDIEVAL IRON DAGGER WITH DISC-SHAPED POMMEL

Ca. 1300-1500 AD
An iron double-edged dagger with a straight sculptured cross guard with incised decoration and tapering tang to the disc-shaped pommel with conical-shaped gilt decoration. Pommel is Oakshott type H1 or H2. This beautiful example probably belonged to a medieval knight, who may have used it as a secondary weapon in close combat. The surface is pitted and the item worn, but overall the condition is good.
