England. Cnut the Great, 1016-1035. AR penny (19mm, 0.93g, 1h). Quatrefoil type (BMC viii, Hild. E), Southampton mint; moneyer Aelfsige. Struck circa 1016-1023. +CNVT REX ANGLORV, crowned bust left within quatrefoil / +ÆLF SIGE ONH AMT, quatrefoil with pellet on each cusp, long voided cross with each limb terminating in three crescents, pellet in center. BEH 1116; North 781; SCBI 13 (Copenhagen), 1171; SCBI 20 (Mack Collection), 1078. Very Fine, flat spots.
