England. Aethelred II. 978-1016. AR Half Penny (11mm, 0.79g). Crux type (BMC iiia, Hild. C). Uncertain mint; Beorhtlaf(?) moneyer. Struck circa 991-997. + ÆÐELRED [REX ΛNGLOX], bareheaded draped bust left with scepter in front / [+__]HTLΛF M¯O , short cross voided, [C] R V [X] in angles. North 770. Near Very Fine.

If in fact this coin is a product of Beorthlaf it can be assumed, on basis of Jonsson and Van der Meer study in “Mints and Moneyers c. 973 - 1066”, that the coin was minted at one of the following mints: Hertford, London, Southwark and Wareham.
