Description

Asia Minor, Uncertain mint - possibly Iconium in Lycaonia. Ca. 1st-3rd centuries A.D. AE tessera (?) (14 mm, 1.83 g, 1 h). Harpa / Cornucopia with fruit. Cf. Leu Numismatik Web Auction 7, lot 895; von Aulock Lykaoniens -. VF, green patina, slightly rough surfaces. Very Rare, possibly the second known.

A note on Leu's specimen: "This could be a coin, but as it lacks any ethnic or other legends, it is probably a tessera." (Hammered for $825 in February, 2019.) There are two series of coins struck at Iconium in Lycaonia which feature Aequitas and Fortuna with both a harpa and cornucopia, but this type was not recorded by von Aulock
