663. Byzantine lead seal of Romanos
protospatharios and vestis
(ca 11th cent.)
Obverse: Two military saints, the one on right saint Theodoros, standing facing, wearing military dresses, holding spear in right hand, resting left on shield, traces of sigla, no visible border.
Reverse: Inscription in 5 (?) lines, +ΚΕRΘ,/ΡΩΜΑΝ,/[Α,]CΠΑΘΑ/ΡΙΩS,RΕ/[CΤΗ?] = Κύριε, βοήθει Ῥωμανῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ βέστῃ (Lord, help Romanos protospatharios and vestis), dotted border.
The present seal is a parallel from the same boulloterion as the previous lot no. 662.
