Kings of Cilicia. Tarkondimotos. 39-31 B.C. AE
Diademed head of Tarkondimotos right, c/m: anchor / BAΣIΛEΩΣ / TAPKONΔIMO/TOY / ΦIΛANTΩNIOY, Zeus seated left holding Nike and scepter. RPC 3871; SNG France 1913-6; SNG Levante 1257-1258; SNG von Aulock 5413. Fine. Scarce.

Tarkondimotos was an ally first of Pompey, then of Caesar and later of Marc Antony, to whom the title ΦIΛANTΩNIOY ("friend of Antonius" refers). He died in the battle of Actium, fighting Agrippa and Octavian.
