Byzantine seal of Leon imperial spatharokandidatos, in charge of oikiakon and krites (judge) (9th cent.)
Obv.: Bust of Mother of God, facial, nimbate, with Jesus Christ on her chest, facial and nimbate, circular invocative inscription within double dotted border, ΚΥΡΙΕΒΟΗΘΕΙΤΩCΩ ΔΟΥΛΩ (Lord, help your servant).
Rev.: Inscription in 5 lines between decorative patterns and crosses, +ΛΕΟΝΤΙ/R,CΠΑΘ,ΚΑ/ΔΙΔ,ΕΠΙΤ,/ΟΙΚΙΑΚΩΝ/SΚΡΙΤΗ (Leon imperial spatharokandidatos, in charge of oikiakon and krites), all within dotted border.
Note: The whole style of the seal is of the so called "Photian type" (i.e. used firstly by saint Photios the Great, patriarch of Constantinopolis).
