Description

Germanic Bronze Ring with Horse and Star. Circa 6th century A.D. A phalanx ring with lentoid-section hoop and large discoid bezel, engraved motif of a standing horse with a star before the muzzle, set within a wreath. 3.43 grams, 18.37 mm overall, 12.79 mm internal diameter (3/4 in.). [No Reserve]

Acquired on the UK art market before 2000. Property of an Essex, UK, gentleman. This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D'Amato.
