Description

Romano-British Votive Terracotta Mask of Silenus. 3rd century A.D. A teardrop-shaped plaque bearing the head of a mature man in raised relief, his open mouth framed by long moustache and long, dressed beard, sunken small eyes and a prominent nose, wearing a striated headdress extending to the shoulders. 101 grams, 12.2 cm (4 3/4 in.). (For this specific lot, 5% import VAT is applicable on the hammer price.)
