English Stuart Coins - James I - Gold Muled Mintmarks Quarter Laurel (5 Shillings)
1621-1623 AD. Third coinage, second bust. Obv: profile bust with V behind and IACOB D G MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX legend and 'lis' mintmark. Rev: long cross over crowned arms with HENRICVS ROSAS REGNA IACOBVS legend with 'thistle' mintmark after REGNA. S. 2642; N 2118; See SCBI 57 (Schneider 2) 97 (possibly same dies"). 2.20 grams. . With collector ticket; ex Brian Willis collection.
Good fine; a little weak at centres. Apparently the only laurel series issue with muled mintmarks.
