Ancient Byzantine Coins - Nicephorus III - Electrum Histamenon Nomisma
1078-1081 AD. Constantinople mint. Obv: IC-XC to left and right of Christ seated facing on backless throne, holding book of Gospels and raising right hand. Rev: NIKHF DEC TW ROTANIAT legend with Nicephorus standing facing on footstool, bearded, wearing crown, holding a labarum with X on shaft and cross on globe, within double border of dots. Sear Byz. 1881; BMC 7-11. 4.40 grams. .
Good very fine; split at flan edge.
