Ancient Roman Imperial Coins - Theodosius II - Gold Constantinopolis Solidus
441-450 AD. Constantinople mint. Obv: D N THEDOSIVS P F AVG legend with helmeted, draped and cuirassed three-quarter bust right. Rev: IMP XXXXII COS XVII P P legend with Constantinopolis enthroned left holding globus cruciger and sceptre, foot on prow, shield at side, star to left field; mintmark CON OB in exergue. RIC x, 285-286, etc.; DOC 410-425; Sear 21140. 4.47 grams. .
Extremely fine; light graffito to obverse right field.
