Medieval 'Don’t Give Me Away' Seal Matrix
13th-14th century AD. A bronze vesica seal matrix with bar and loop to the reverse; the seal design comprising a dove with an olive branch in its mouth with surrounding legend '*NOLO NIMIS DARI' for 'Don’t give me away'; supplied with a museum quality impression. Cf. a very similar legend found on a matrix recorded on the PAS database, ESS-0F1F33 [NOLO NIMES DARI], the sense perhaps approximates to 'Don’t give me away'; - cf. the attested NON DATVR PETENTI and NE ME DVNE MIE. 4.28 grams, 28mm (1").
