Description
Post Medieval Gold Filigree Cross with Garnet
18th-19th century AD. A hollow gold cruciform pendant formed as panels of openwork filigree, trapezoidal arms with drum-shaped finials, ribbed suspension loop, central cell to obverse with inset cabochon garnet. See Wamser, L. Die Welt von Byzanz - Europas Östliches Erbe, München, 2004. 5.35 grams, 34mm (1 3/8"). Property of a North London gentleman; previously in an important Mayfair collection of Christian artefacts.
Extremely fine condition.
