Description
Viking Gilt Silver Beast Pendant
9th-11th century AD. A silver-gilt pendant comprising a facing animal mask with lentoid eyes above a bilinear loop with hatched serpent body looped across and central triangle motif; the whole pendant replicating the standard 'Thor's hammer' profile. 5.46 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). From a London W1, UK, collection; acquired on the German art market before 2000. [No Reserve]
Very fine condition.
