Stone Age Chisel Blade
Neolithic Period, circa 5500-2200 B.P. Flint blade of above-average length and slimness (so-called hache-ciseau) with almost parallel sides and circular cross-section; rounded cutting edge, roughly hewn, blunt neck; longitudinal grinding marks from manufacture, surface polished towards cutting edge; greyish stone (silex) with light spots; originally attached to a wooden handle, possibly with intermediary lining made of antler. 96 grams, 15.2 cm (198 grams total, 19 cm including stand) (6 in.
