Description
Lower Palaeolithic Period, circa 480,000-250,000 B.P.. Irregular worked flint with some cortex remaining, old inked legend 'SALISBURY' to the edge. Cf. MacGregor, A. (ed.), Antiquities from Europe and the Near East in the Collection of Lord McAlpine of West Green, Oxford, 1987, item 1.27, for type. 115 grams, 78 mm (3 in.).
Found fieldwalking near Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK, by Mr P.M. From the collection of a South West London, UK, specialist Stone Age collector. [No Reserve]
