Description

1st century A.D.. Reversed fantail type with ribbed bulbs above and below the bow formed as three plain bulbs, pelta-shaped foot with long catch to the reverse, spring and pin intact. Cf. Hattatt, R., Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, item 814, for type. 17.9 grams, 38 mm (1 1/2 in.).
