Northeast Gaul. The Ambiani AV Quarter Stater. Circa 175-120 BC. Flamboyant stylised laureate head of Apollo to right, wreath enlarged into an elaborate head decoration / Celticised horse to right, stylised charioteer above, bird below. SCBC 6; Sills 271; ABC 28; DT 559a; LT 7879; CCI 01.1445. 1.77gr, 15mm, 1h Good Very Fine. Well-centered on large flan. Excessively rare right facing example with this control.
Found whilst searching with a metal detector in Walton, Essex, UK, in 1997, by Paul Sheedy.
