Anglo-Saxon Coins - Offa - East Anglia / Ecghun - Star of David Penny
785-793 AD. Type 168. Obv: long cross fleury with lozenge and pellet centre and short cross-bars to limbs with XO / FF / A+ / RE in angles. Rev: star of David with pellet-in-rosettes at centre and at points dividing E / g / C / H / V / N legend (with Runic 'g') for the moneyer Ecghun at an East Anglian mint. S. 907; N. -; CEB 110 (part); SCBI 67 (BM Anglo-Saxon II) -; Chick 168 (same dies); see also CNG sale 97, lot 974 (same dies"). Near as struck; small chip and short edge crack. Extremely rare; third example recorded for type.
