Description

Circa 9th-11th century A.D. Disc with integral loop secured at the reverse; obverse with applied filigree and granulation forming dense zoomorphic forms; three radiating cat-head images to the centre. Cf. Kershaw, J.F., Viking Identities. Scandinavian Jewellery in England, Oxford, 2013, pl.4, for type. 7.24 grams, 42 mm (1 5/8 in.).

Private collection formed in Europe in the 1980s. Westminster collection, central London, UK. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by a search certificate number no.12135-217412
