Stone Age Speckled Stone Axehead Group
Neolithic Period, circa 6th-4th millennium B.C. Group of three axeheads each with a thick, rounded butt; two with narrow worked edge and one with rounded edge. Cf. MacGregor, A. (ed.), Antiquities from Europe and the Near East in the Collection of Lord MacAlpine of West Green, Oxford, 1987, item 4.151, for type. 644 grams total, 71-100 mm (2 3/4 - 4 in.).

Ex Ian Richardson collection, Sunderland, UK.From a collection acquired on the UK art market from various auction houses and collections mostly before 2000.From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.
