Stone Age Knapped Flint Handaxe
Mesolithic Period, circa 30,000-15,000 B.C. Pointed handaxe with broad, square butt and lozenge-section profile. Cf. MacGregor, A., (ed.), Antiquities from Europe and the Near East in the Collection of Lord MacAlpine of West Green, Oxford, 1987, item 3.1. 541 grams, 19.5 cm (7 3/4 in.).
From a very old collection based on the cabinet patination.From a collection acquired on the UK art market from various auction houses and collections mostly before 2000.From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.
