Stone Age 'Swanscombe' Knapped Flint Axe
Lower Palaeolithic Period, circa 400,000-200,000 B.P.. Triangular with broad rounded butt; with old inked inked label 'Callands Lane / Oct 1994 / CW'. Cf. MacGregor, A. (ed.), Antiquities from Europe and the Near East in the Collection of Lord MacAlpine of West Green, Oxford, 1987, item 1.1. 208 grams, 10.9 cm (4 1/4 in.).
