Description

Chinese Jianyao Hare's Fur Tea Bowl
Song Dynasty, 960-1279 A.D. Of conical form, with inverted rim and discoid foot, the interior and exterior decorated with a lustrous blackish glaze shot through with streaks of 'hare's fur' markings, the exterior with the brown ware visible towards the foot, chip to rim. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, New York, accession number 91.1.226, for similar. 341 grams, 12.6 cm wide (5 in.).
