Elamite Bronze Crescentic Axehead
Mid 3rd millennium B.C. With slender tubular socket, horizontal upper cheek and curved lower one, scooped profile to blade with convex cutting edge. See Gorelik, M., Weapons of Ancient East, IV millennium BC-IV century BC, Saint Petersburg (2003), pl.XIX, no.68 (Susa, Elam), for similar. 333 grams, 12.5 cm (5 in.).
