Description

German Memento Mori Signet Ring
Circa 1600 A.D. Substantial gold hoop with ribbed shoulders and underside to the discoid bezel; incuse pelleted border enclosing a skull and single long bone above a bird's nest. Cf. Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 654, for type. 22.40 grams, 27.88 mm overall, 21.55 mm internal diameter (approximate size British V, USA 10 1/2, Europe 23.77, Japan 22) (1 in.).

Acquired in the 1980s. Property of a London gentleman. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.11980-210514.
