Description

Egyptian Faience Scarab in Gold Swivel Ring
Second Intermediate Period, circa 1650 B.C. With flared shoulders and granulation detailing, applied filigree band, turquoise-coloured faience scarab in swivel mount, hieroglyphs to the underside. Cf. Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, items 39-42, for type. 1.88 grams, 23.40 mm overall, 15.97 mm internal diameter (approximate size British K 1/2, USA 5 1/2, Europe 10.58, Japan 10) (1 in.).

From a family collection formed 1900-1950; by descent circa 1980.
