Description
Post Medieval Glazed Ceramic Caged Canary Tile Set
Circa 18th century A.D. Formed using mauve-coloured glaze for the cage and yellow for the bird; chipped. Cf. Pluis, J., The Dutch Tile: Designs and Names, Leiden, 1997, p.615, for similar.1.4 kg total, 13 x 13 cm each (5 1/8 x 5 1/8 in.). Acquired 1990s-early 2000s. East Anglian private collection.[6]
