12th-13th century A.D. Of piriform shape with tapering neck, rolled rim and everted foot, painted with panels of text, circumferential bands and delicate scrolling forms beneath a turquoise glaze; iridescent surfaces, some restoration. The Metropolitan Museum, New York, accession number 36.20.47, for a similar jar from Nishapur, dated 13th century A.D.719 grams, 16.5 cm high (6 1/2 in.). with a London, UK gallery 1971-early 2000s.
