See Early Medieval Corpus, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, reference 2023.0010 (this coin). 1.38 grams. Found near Monkton, Kent, 2022, recorded with Early Medieval Corpus, reference 2023.0010.Property of a Kent gentleman. Coins of types 12, 13 and 14 are previously recorded for this moneyer but this is the first known example for type 10. A feature of very many coins of Henry I is the appearance of a small nick or cut to the edge of the coin, as seen here; this was done at the mint itself after striking due to a public lack of confidence in the coinage in general, to show that the coin was struck in good silver.
