Description

Medieval Handled Jug
13th-16th century A.D. A coarse ceramic jug with rounded body, shallow shoulder, narrow mouth pinched to form a pouring lip, thick strap handle to the rear with thumb-pad above, incised circumferential lines to the shoulder with lines of stamped pellet ornament. Cf. Saunders, P. (ed.), Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue: part 3, Salisbury, 2001, item 87, for type. 741 grams, 16.5 cm high (6 1/2 in.).
