Medieval Style Gilt Openwork Candlestick with Figures
Late 19th century A.D. or earlier. A gilt bronze pricket candlestick composed of a discoid cup supported by three bestial creatures, bulbous openwork collar displaying a winged and nimbate figure together with three winged and nimbate creatures possibly representing archangels, amidst foliate vines, domed triangular base with openwork mythical creatures and beast heads, all supported on tripod feet formed as eagle talons.
