British Tudor Coins - Ireland - Henry VII - Dublin - Halfgroat
1496-1505 A.D. Late portrait issue. Obv: facing bust with double-arched crown breaking tressure with [ ]RA DNS HIB legend. Rev: long cross and pellets with POS[ ]ORE M and CIVI TAS DVB LINE legends for Dublin mint. S. 6465; see Dolley, Michael, Medieval Anglo-Irish Coins, Seaby, 1972, pp.34-36, for this issue. 0.89 grams. Found Braintree, Essex, UK, 1995. Property of an Sussex gentleman. The Lucien Lariviere collection, sold by Spink, 22 February 2006, lot 74 had an example of this issue, therein reputedly the third known specimen. (previously with CNG, 29 May 1997, lot 1619 and also significantly chipped at edge).
