1204-1209 A.D. Class 5b2. Obv: facing bust with HENRICVS REX legend with doubled upright to second R. Rev: short voided cross and quatrefoils with +SAMVEL.ON.CAN legend with double-barred first A for the moneyer Samuel at Canterbury mint. S. 1351 variant; N. 970(ii) and note. 1.35 grams. Found Romney Marsh, Kent, UK area. Property of a Kent collector. A few dies for coins in classes 5a and 5b show some 'ornamented' letters for obverses and reverses, similar to those seen later in class 6c2; all class 5 coins showing this feature are rare.
