Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Apamea Countermarked AR Tetradrachm 221-189 B.C. Posthumous issue, Perge, Pamphylia mint, countermarked in Apamea. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress; countermark of a bow and bowcase and letters APA on ear. Rev: ALEXANDROY to right of Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; fieldmark obliterated by the pressure of applying the countermark on the obverse.
