Description

Roman 'Thames' Onager Shot Circa 4th century A.D. A large ball carved from limestone with roughly pecked surface, suitable for use with an onager or similar siege weapon, with a flat surface to allow for safe storage. 3.4 kg, 15.5 cm (6 in.). Found Thames foreshore on the North Bank, UK, circa 1980. [No Reserve]
