Acquired in the 1990s. Private collection, London, UK. Property of a Sussex, UK, teacher. The axe is of Baltic workmanship, type III of the Kirpichnikov classification. Type III axes have been found in Russia, in the Perm region, in Bilyarske, Finland, Gotland, Poland, Balkans and Serbia. P. Paulsen concludes that the axes are considered as a type in the Varangian group of North Baltic axes. [No Reserve]
