Ottoman Pen Box with Inkwell Early 19th century A.D. A silver portable pen case or divit composed of a tubular body with slender, octagonal cross-section and hinged lid; inkwell on the exterior with hinged lid; floral and foliate motifs to the lids and collars with remains of gilding; stamped on the inkwell base and pen box with crowned letters CN in an oval cartouche. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 1982.478.6, for a very similar example. 400 grams, 29.5 cm (11 5/8 in.). Acquired 1960s-1970s. Kept in the UK since 1981.
