Description

Egyptian Agate Fly Amulet Late Period, 664-332 B.C. An agate fly amulet with simple, stylised anatomical detailing to the head, thorax and wings, the insect modelled standing on an integral, slightly convex base; pierced for suspension. Cf. Andrews, C., Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, pp.62-3, for similar. 0.67 grams, 13 mm (1/2 in.). Private early 20th century collection. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate no.11342-192183.
