Anglo-Saxon Gilt Radiate Brooch. 6th century A.D. A radiate-headed brooch with remains of gilding, semi-circular headplate with raised semi-circular cell, triangular footplate with knops to corners and triangular cell, ribbed bow; remains of pin lug and catchplate to reverse. 4.31 grams, 36 mm (1 3/8 in.) Found whilst searching with a metal detector, Isle of Wight, UK, on 23 May 2020. Recorded by Isle of Wight Portable Antiquities Scheme Liaison Officer with reference numbers SZ 40040 and BNG 86898 (IOW-92228F). Accompanied by a copy of the Portable Antiquities Scheme report number IOW-92228F. The PAS report states that 'This is a find of note and has been designated: County/ local importance.' [No Reserve]
