Description

Ziwiye Composition Vessel. 9th-7th century B.C. A composition vessel composed of a rectangular body with slightly convex walls, rounded stub foot at each corner, raised rectangular panel to two faces, pierced at the centre, decorated with green-blue glaze and cream meander pattern. Cf. The Dr. & Mrs Kurokawa Collection, The Remains of Happiness, vol.2, 2001, p.12, no.11, for comparable. 175 grams, 72 mm wide (2 3/4 in.) Acquired on the London art market, 1989. Property of a North London gentleman.
