Bird Oil Lamp. 19th century A.D. or earlier. An oil lamp in the form of a stylised standing bird with outspread wings, each formed as a smaller bird and cruciform terminal; dense panels of floral, foliate and geometric motifs to the bodies; openwork eyes, beaks, backs and tails. 1.7 kg, 29 cm wide (11 1/2 in.) Acquired before the early 1970s. Ex London, UK, gallery. Property of a London gentleman.
