Hellenistic Gold Eros Earring. 2nd-1st century B.C. A gold earring with a wire hoop with applied figure of Eros standing nude with hands on his hips, with another recently made to create a matched pair. Cf. Higgins, R.A., Greek and Roman Jewellery, London, 1961, plate 47, for type. 2.00 grams total, 17-20 mm (3/4 in.) Acquired 1960s-1990s. Late Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister. [2]
